The Shaksham Foundation is committed to addressing India’s growing waste crisis, with millions of tonnes of sustainable waste generated annually. Unfortunately, only a small fraction is composted, while the majority ends up in landfills. To combat this issue, our Sustainable Waste Management (SWM) Programme was established in 2007, offering innovative and comprehensive solutions for both urban and rural communities. Our mission is to transform waste into valuable resources through end-to-end strategies, including recycling, composting, and sustainable disposal methods. By reducing landfill dependency, we aim to minimize environmental pollution, conserve resources, and foster a circular economy, paving the way for a cleaner, greener future.

To build on our initial efforts, the Shaksham Foundation’s Sustainable Waste Management (SWM) Programme continues to implement scalable, community-driven solutions for managing waste. By prioritizing waste segregation, recycling, and composting, we aim to significantly reduce the volume of waste sent to landfills. Our ongoing mission is to create a circular economy where waste is seen as a resource, driving environmental sustainability and supporting cleaner, healthier communities across India.

Our Program's

Self Help Groups

As a renowned women empowerment NGO, Shaksham Foundation understands the value of counselling where the expert can identify the societal trauma that the women are going through and find a way out with encouragement and motivation. Women have to be psychologically strong to stand for them against all odds and if they are mothers, they have to achieve empowerment faster. By attending the Self-help groups, the leadership qualities among marginalized women are often increased.

Livelihood Training

Having a steady income with a sound career can be the one and only solution for woman empowerment. However, at Shaksham Foundation we know that not every woman is capable of achieving higher positions or getting a job. Instead, we encourage them with soft skill training like mattress making, beautician courses, and leather bag making to earn with their own abilities.
